KABUL (Pajhwok): Kam Air’s volleyball team will represent the country in the Asian Volleyball Championship in Bahrain, the Afghanistan National Volleyball Federation (ANVF) said on Sunday.
ANVF in a statement said Bahrain will host the men’s club volley tournament from May 14 to 21, in which 16 top volleyball clubs from as many Asian countries will compete in four groups.
ANVF said all expenses of the Afghanistan volleyball team will be paid by Kam Air Airlines.
The Kam Air volleyball team is placed in Group A with Iran, Iraq, China and Taiwan.
The Group B comprises of Bahrain, South Korea, Australia and India and Group C Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Qatar and Hong Kong and Group D includes Japan, Thailand, Mongolia and Yemen.
The Afghanistan team has begun practice in the gymnasium of the Physical Education and Sports Department under the watch-full eyes of experienced coaches of the country.
The payers have been practicing in two shifts morning and evening to further strengthen their physical and technical capacities
Skipper Mohammad Fahim Samim said the team of Afghanistan has good capacity and was currently practicing to shine better in the upcoming tournament.
ANVF said it succeeded to send the volleyball team of National Directorate of Security to China to participate in a tournament of Asian countries while this is the second time a team from Afghanistan is going to participate in the upcoming tournament of Asian countries.
