KABUL (Pajhwok): The Pen Path Foundation has demanded immediate release of its founder Matiwllah Wesa and urged authorities to provide assurance about his well-being, according to a statement on Monday.
The statement added that Wesa’s family should be allowed to visit him and he should be provide right to defend himself through a lawyer.
Pen Path Foundation Founder and President, Matiullah Wesa, was detained on March 27, 2023, from Khoshal Khan area of Kabul city. He was detained after praying the evening prayer at the local mosque.
On March 28, his home and guesthouse was also searched in a manner that is not even approved by the authorities. Mr. Wesa’s brothers were also detained on that day but released soon after. But Mr.
Wesa’s phones, laptop, and phones of his brothers still remain with the Taliban.
Pen Path Foundation appreciated the efforts of Afghan elders, youth, brothers and sisters, UN, Human Rights agencies, Amnesty International, and other people who wholeheartedly voiced their concerns on the immediate and unconditioned release of Matiullah Wesa.
Pen Path Foundation asked from institutions and individuals to respect human rights and release all prisoners who are detained without any just reason.
