KABUL (Pajhwok): The World Health Organization (WHO) on Thursday said two children were paralyzed by polio in Afghanistan in 2022, the lowest number ever recorded in the country.
In a tweet, WHO said by vaccinating every last child, they could get the number to zero and make Afghanistan polio free.
It said 56 positive cases of polio were recorded in Afghanistan in 2020 and four in 2021.
Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only two countries in the world where polio remains endemic.
In Pakistan, at least 20 cases of polio were registered in 2022.
