KABUL (Pajhwok): A Turkish company is interested to invest in a 200 MW wind power project in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Water and Energy said on Sunday.
The Ministry of Water and Energy wrote on its Twitter page that acting Water and Energy Minister Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour met with President of Turkish 77 Construction Company Suliman Jellio in his office and discussed with him energy production from different sources.
The Turkish company head said his company wanted to invest and generate 200 megawatts of electricity from wind sources in Afghanistan.
Mansour called the completion of the second phase of the Kajaki hydropower dam by the 77 Turkish company “a valuable achievement for the people of Afghanistan.”
He stressed on investment in energy projects and assured that the leadership of the Ministry of Water and Energy was committed to all kinds of cooperation
Both sides agreed to sign a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Water and Energy and 77 Turkish company on investing in generating 200 megawatts of electricity from wind sources as soon as possible.
The Turkish company head also called on acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum Shahabuddin Dilawar and both discussed joint cooperation and investment in the country’s mines, especially cement.
The head of the 77 company said that many investors in Turkey were willing to invest in different projects in Afghanistan, especially in mining and promised to attract the attention of other investors in this field.
Dilawar said currently enough investment opportunities existed in Afghanistan and his ministry welcomed all foreign investors.
