SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): The Education Department of northern Jawzjan province says it has set up 135 local classes for about 4,000 out of school children in the province.

Education Director Maulvi Mohammad Tahir Javad told Pajhwok Afghan News that the classes were established with financial support of UNCIEF in Aqcha, Faizabad, Mangjik districts and Shiberghan city.

He said about 4,000 children who were out of schools for various reasons had been enrolled in the local classes.

He added the classes included 108 local classes and 27 fast learning classes.

Local residents welcomed the development. Khair Mohammad, a resident of Aqcha district, said: “In the past years, due to security problems, some of our children did not go to school. Now these classes have been established, I am happy.”

Bahara, a student in one of these classes said: “Our house is far from the school and we had a lot of trouble going to that school, now a local class is established near our house.”

Another student, Ruhollah, from Hyderabad village in Faizabad district, said: “For our education, the Department of Education has created local classes in our village, we thank them.”
