KABUL (Pajhwok): The Mofeed Group has opened their cargo branch in capital Kabul making it the first Cargo Company in the country to operate.
The inauguration event was held in the Kabul Airport where high ranking officials were also present.
Abdul Karim Raufi, representative of Mufeed Group during his opening remarks said that 18 tonnes of goods were imported today (Saturday) to test the operation.
He did not provide information regarding the investment made to this initiative but added that their company would export goods though air and ground routes in swiftly and safely.
Commerce and Industry Minister Nooruddin Aziz said that his ministry would support and encourage every step that could help promote trade and business.
Referring to the effectiveness of the cargo operation, he said in the initial stages when the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) took over no company was ready to transfer goods.
He added the Aryana and Kam Air cargo service was not enough and the opening of this company would be effective in the import or export of goods.
He asked local company to engage in positive competition and refrain from holding monopoly.
Mohammad Younis Mohmad, first deputy head of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment (CCI), stressed over the support to local companies and added Afghanistan’s export and import was going on normally.
Akhundzada Abdul Salaam Jawad, spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce and Industries, said this company was specifically working in the transfer of goods and therefore it was the first cargo service.
In the past other companies transferred people as well as goods.
