KABUL (Pajhwok): Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) vaccination process to 50,000 cows has kicked off in southeastern Paktika province, an official said on Saturday.

Agriculture Director Mawlavi Zabihullah told Pajhwok Afghan News LSD had emerged few years back due to which a large numbers of cows had been lost.

“There is no treatment for this disease in Paktia but now we brought its vaccination which will be administered to up to 60,000 cows in most districts,” he said.

Senior Agriculture Official Mohammad Zaman said: “We received most complains about LSD and we shared them with the ministry and it sent WFP supported LSD vaccination.”

Paktia Deputy Governor Mawlavi Abdul Salaam Saadat said the amount of attention the livestock sector required they did not paid adding that livestock and farmers need to more support and attention.

“Efforts will be made to establish milk, yogurt, butter and oil producing and process factories in the province,” he added.
