130 acres of private land retrieved from usurpers in Uruzgan

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): About 130 acres of private land has been reclaimed  from usurpers and handed over to their actual owners in Chinarto district of central Uruzgan province, an official said on Wednesday.

Police spokesman Maulvi Zahid told Pajhwok Afghan News that the usurped land was wrested back and given to their actual owners in line with a court ruling.

He said the government was committed to ensuring the safety and protecting the properties of citizens.

Akhtar Mohammad, a resident of the district, said his land had been usurped 11 years ago by a man who had connections in the previous government.

Mohammad thanked the judiciary and security forces for returning him his land.

Large swaths of government land have been wrested back from illegal occupants in Uruzgan province, but it was the first time that private land has been retrieved from usurpers.
