KABUL (Pajhwok): Ministry of Justice officials identified and closed six offices of defense lawyers in Kabul and took legal actions against legal companies abusing the names of defense lawyers on their advertisement boards.
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) in a statement said its officials identified and closed six offices of defense attorneys out of 95 monitored in the limits of second and third security districts of Kabul city.
The offices of defense attorneys closed were located in Joy Sheer, Deh Afghanan and Kota Sangi areas.
The statement said nine boards of the offices of defense attorneys that did not match their permits were also removed.
Defense lawyers who are yet to obtain all the four books from MoJ were given a month to obtain the regulatory books and work in accordance with the relevant procedure.
Maulavi SayedHabib Al Habib, head of defense attorneys’ union, talked about problems the defense lawyers faced and urged them to cooperate with the MoJ.
It is worth mentioning that as part of the MoJ monitoring, legal action is being taken against legal companies which misuse the names of defense attorneys or advertise excessively.
