SAR-I-PUL CITY (Pajhhwok): The Department of Information and Cultural Affairs in northern Sar-i-Pul province have put on display thousands of books to promote the culture of study and learning in the province.
The move warmly welcomed by the culturists who demanded the continuation of such events.
The exhibition had been organized in the Sar-i-Pul General Book Store Hall which will continue for 15 days.
Deputy Education Director Ayyamuddin Yuldash said the last week of Sawar month had been named as the book reading week by the cultural department, adding that every year the last week of Sawar is dubbed as book reading week.
Syed Mehdi Abdul Lahi, one of the cultural activists, said the culture of reading was effective among youth adding that such events should not be limited to one week or few days.
Samiullah Rahmani, one of the youth, asked the local government to organize such events more and encourage youth to book reading.
Abdullah Hussaini, one of the students, said the book fair organized by the Cultural Department made everyone happy, adding that such events helped revived the culture of reading.
