KABUL (Pajhwok): Former Wolesi Jirga member from Kabul Allah Gul Mujahid is willing to return to the country, the Afghan embassy in Iran says.
The Embassy of Afghanistan in Tehran wrote on its Twitter page that the head of the embassy, Maulvi Fazl Mohammad Haqqani, met with Allah Gul Mujahid, a former member of the lower house.
Haqqani told the ex-MP: “Afghanistan is our common home and the Islamic Emirate has paved the way for the return of Afghans to their country.”
Mujahid thanked the acting ambassador of Afghanistan in Tehran and stressed mutual acceptance and expressed his desire to go to the country.
Allah Gul Mujahid was twice elected to the lower house parliament during the republic.
He was briefly arrested in Kabul after the political change in August 2021.On the day he was arrested, he said in a video clip that the Taliban were his brothers and he had been arrested due to a misunderstanding, but he was released soon.
After that, the Islamic Emirate’s Office of Administrative Affairs in a statement said the Council of Ministers had tasked the General Directorate of Intelligence to investigate the case of Mujahid’s arrest and beating in detail to deal legally with those involved.
Sometime later, Mujahid went to Turkey and from there to Iran.
