Logar man killed in leftover landmine blast

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): A man was killed when an old landmine exploded in the Mohammad Agha district of central Logar province on Monday, police said.

Logar police spokesman Ahmadullah Anas told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place in Dhano village of Mohammad Agha district at around 11am.

He added the victim, Najibullah, was digging the foundations for his house with a pickaxe when he hit the hidden explosive device.

The incident comes a month after three children were killed and fourth seriously injured due to a mortar shell explosion in Altamor area of Pul-i-Alam city.
