TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Local officials in northern Takhar province say poppy crop has been eradicated on about 3,750 acres of land in three districts of northern Takhar province and the farmers will be provided with alternatives.
Maulvi Abdul Basir, director of counter-narcotics, told a press conference that they destroyed the illicit plant on 3,750 acres of land in Farkhar, Kalafgan and Rustaq districts in the past one month and the campaign was ongoing.
Flanked by the provincial police chief, Basir said the government planned to distribute chemical fertilizer, fruit trees, saffron seeds and some other plants to farmers . . .
