PUL-I-ALM (Pajhwok): More than 40 projects worth $800,000 are being executed simultaneously in different parts of central Logar province.

Shahidullah Hamraz, Logar Agriculture and Livestock department spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 43 projects related to agriculture were being implemented by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) at a cost of about $800,000 in one year.

Hamraz added the projects included construction and reconstruction of water dams, canals and culverts in Pul-i-Alam, Mohammad Agha and Barhaki Barak districts.

He said around 8,000 people worked on the projects which would take one year to complete.

Logar residents were happy with the launch of the projects.

Haji Mohammad Rasool, a tribal elder from Mohammad Agha district, told Pajhwok that he was glad that the Department of Agriculture and Livestock had started the projects.

He said the projects would resolve irrigation water shortage issue and provide jobs to the youth for one year in the district.

FAO has been working on a number of projects in some other areas of Logar.
