Rashid Khan to miss 2 ODIs against Sri Lanka due to back injury

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan’s spin maestro Rashid Khan has been ruled out of the first two ODIs against Sri Lank with a lower-back injury, and is expected to return for the final game on June 7.

In a statement, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) said Rashid Khan was set to miss the first two ODIs of the series against Sri Lank due to lower-back injury.

“Afghanistan’s Bowling Ace @rashidkhan_19has sustained a low back injury which forces him out of the first two games against @OfficialSLC,” ACB wrote.

The team physio's assessment said: “Rashid will remain under full medical observation and is expected to return for the final ODI on June 7."

The three-match series will commence on 2 June with all games set to be played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Hambantota.

Rashid was recently involved in the IPL, where his side Gujarat Titans lost the final to Chennai Super Kings on Monday night. He was the tournament's joint second-highest wicket-taker with 27 strikes, according to ESPN Cricinfo.
