Drilling of 17 oil and gas wells to start soon: Dilawar

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): The drilling of 16 crude oil wells in the Qashqari mining site of Sar-i-Pul province and one gas well in Jawzjan province would be started soon, an official said on Friday.

Petroleum and Mining Minister Shahabuddin Dilawar said this during a visit to Jawzjan province. He visited the Gaz Yatim Taq and Khawaja Gogerad mining sites and said that the drilling of gas and crude oil wells would generate job opportunities for the people.

He said till the end of the ongoing year 16 wells would be drilled in the Qashqari mining site at the cost of $140 million which will help generate job opportunities for the people.

He said one well would produce 250 cubic metre gas in 24 hours. The Afghan Enterprise Department would excavate the gas and its cost is estimated to be more than 18 million afs.

Dilawar said that as part of the long term plan the gas distribution system would be made functional in the houses and more well would be drilled in the province.
