KABUL (Pajhwok): Education minister and provincial education directors of 34 provinces have met with the Islamic Emirate’s supreme leader Haibatullah Akhunzada in southern Kandahar province, the Ministry of Education said on Monday.
The ministry wrote on its Twitter page that acting Education Minister Maulvi Habibullah Agha and the heads of education of 34 provinces met with Sheikhul Hadith Haibatullah Akhundzada.
The ministry did not provide further details about the meeting that came amid an ongoing ban on girls high and university education.
Government officials say the ban on girls high and university education is not permanent and efforts are being made to find a solution within the framework of Islamic Sharia.
A few days ago Norwegian Refugee Council Secretary General Jan Egland after meeting with local leaders in Kandahar said that the caretaker government’s instructions regarding the education and work of women and girls were almost complete.
