KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): A solar power system costing 20 million afghanis has been installed at the customs office of Spin Boldak district in southern Kandahar province, an official said on Monday.
Kandahar Customs spokesman Khalilur Rahman Wardak told Pajhwok News News that the plant having the capacity to produce 190 kilowatts of electricity and store 440 kilowatts of electricity, was put into service on Sunday.
According to him, the cost of the solar power system has been paid by the Ministry of Finance, which will solve the electricity problem
He added that earlier generator was used at the customs office, which consumed 1.5 million afghanis per month.
According to Wardak, the solar power system will help expedite daily affairs and overcome other expenses.
