MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Police have arrested three women accused of stealing jewelry worth $45,000 from a house in northern Balkh province.
Deputy police chief Abdul Hai Abid said security forces arrested the female thieves who had stolen gold from a house in the 10th security district of Mazar-i-Sharif yesterday.
Abid said the gold was recovered from the detainees and handed over its owner today.
He said the women were arrested yesterday afternoon during a search at the entrance belt in Mazar-i-Sharif city.
A man was also involved in the theft who had escaped and efforts to arrest him were underway.
Humayun Popal, the owner of the stolen gold, thanked security forces for their efforts.
