7-month pregnant woman commits suicide in Faryab

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): A 32-year-old pregnant woman allegedly committed suicide by consuming rat poison in the Qaisar district of northern Faryab province, an official said on Saturday.

Damla Mahawez, crime branch police chief, said that the woman, Lailuma, ended her life in the Arzlik village of Qaisar district late on Friday.

He said the reason behind the suicide was said to be domestic violence, but an investigation was ongoing to reveal the facts.

Farhad, a resident of the area, said: “Lailuma was her husband’s second wife, she has three children and she was seven months pregnant. She was facing violence and eventually committed suicide.”
