TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Security officials in northern Takhar province say they have put in place tight security measures for Eid holidays and also warn of punishing civilian or military person resorting to celebratory firing.
Takhar police chief Maulvi Nasrullah Huzaifah said efforts were being made to ensure security during Eid days, saying military units have been deployed in the provincial capital and districts.
He said celebratory firing was banned and if a civilian or military personnel resorted to celebratory firing would be arrested and punished.
Takhar intelligence chief Qari Zikrullah Zakir also said that joint security forces had been deployed in all areas of the province to ensure security of people during Eid.
He requested the people to cooperate with security forces and asked shopkeepers to refrain from selling toy guns to children.
However, some residents complained about increasing armed robberies in the province and demanded security measures.
