MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Three teenage boys were killed and four others injured in two separate accidents in northern Faryab province, an official said on Friday.
Faryab traffic manager Ahmad Fahim told Pajhwok Afghan News that the first accident took place in Chehal Gaz area of Qaisar district when two motorcycles collided.
Two boys aged 18 years were killed in the accident and a third injured.
He said a 17-year-old boy was killed when a rickshaw overturned in Kathakam area of Maimana city.
Fahim called on local people and elders to advise their youth to obey traffic rules.
Some residents say the local authorities should prevent motorcyclists and rickshaw drivers from speeding in order to prevent accidents.
Sharif Mohammadi, a resident of Qaisar district, said traffic police did not exist in the district and people were unaware about traffic rules.
He said some youth had modified silencers of their motorcycles to make huge noise that disturbed people.
Idrees, a resident of Maimana, said children as young as 9-year-old could be seen driving cars and motorcycles in the city.
