KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Koresh and other traditional games featuring dozens of athletes have commenced in northern Kunduz province in connection with Eidul Adha.
Koresh Federation head Muhammad Anwar told Pajhwok Afghan News dozens of athletes from different departments were participating in the traditional belt wrestling.
Anwar said the competitions were aimed at entertaining citizens and encouraging athletes.
He said: “As you know traditional games are launched on happy days in northern Afghanistan; we also launched wrestling, ghorsi game and tug-of-war competitions in order to refresh the past memories”.
Haroon Omarkhel, a spectator, said he enjoyed the matches.
Chepanki wrestling (Koresh) is a traditional game of Afghanistan, which has many fans in northern provinces, and such competitions are always launched on the occasion of happy days such as Eid.
