PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): The Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Department says more than 108 metric tonnes of wheat has been harvested in northern Baghlan province this year.
Wali Amarkhel, an official of the department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the wheat had been produced by 88,217.
He said the yield showed 11 percent increase this year and the main factor behind the surge was the distribution of refined seeds to farmers and training programs in this field.
Haji Bashir, a farmer of Baghlan Dandghori area, told Pajhwok that although the seasonal rains were less this year, but the wheat yield significantly increased compared to last year.
