PM Modi calls on SCO states to stand against terrorism  

KABUL (Pajhwok): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address called for SCO member nations to stand against terrorism for regional and global peace, according to media reports.

He mentioned that some countries are using cross-border terrorism as an instrument of their policies and are giving shelter to terrorists. Later, he said that people should not hesitate in criticising such countries.

"Terrorism is a threat to regional and global peace. We will have to fight against terrorism...Some countries use cross-border terrorism as an instrument of their policies and give shelter to terrorists. SCO should not hesitate to criticize such countries. SCO countries should condemn it. There should be no double standards on terrorism," he said.

Iran has become a permanent member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) during the 22nd summit chaired by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

This was confirmed by the Iranian news agency "Irna", according to which during the virtual summit the president of the Islamic Republic, Ebrahim raisi, expressed satisfaction with his country's entry into the SCO, underlining that the benefits of membership "will go down in history".
