Body of elderly man found in Kandahar’s Shah Walikot

KANDAHAR (Pajhwok): The body of an elderly person has been found in the Shah Walikot district of southern Kandahar province.

Officials say the man had been dead for about 12 days in the area, but the cause of death was yet to be determined.

Kandahar police spokesman Hafiz Saber quoted local residents as saying that the man had been dead for up to 12 days.

He said an application written to the Kandahar governor’s house was found with the dead body. The application written in the name of Rahimdad has sought assistance for his eight-member family.

However, the deceased’s family is yet to be found.

Residents of the area say most part of the man’s legs were missing and it seemed wild animals had eaten them.

Syed Ghulam, a resident of Shah Walikot district, said no relatives of the deceased had been found yet and his body was currently lying in the district health clinic.

He said it appeared the elderly man had been dead for many days.
