TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Azeemullah, the resident of northern Takhar province, has made three unsuccessfully illegal migration attempts in the past and now established a bricks production factory in which he provided work opportunity to other youths as well.

His efforts to go to a foreign country were merely due to the financial problems and poverty that he was suffering from.

He went to Gulfgan district 50 kilometres from Taloqan, the provincial capital, for work and told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Three times I tried to illegally migrate and went through Iranian and Turkish borders.”

He said migration resulted in more miseries and sorrow thus he returned to the country and here started work to earn livelihood for his family.

Under scorching sun in hot weather Azeemullah was busy making bricks from clay and told Pajhwok report that he produced up to 2,000 bricks and earned about 1,000 afs daily.

He added: “I had decided to make another attempt and go to one of the foreign countries again, but the difficulties of migration, the inhumane behavior of the border guards with the migrants and the harassment by the people, forced me to reverse my decision and now I am busy with work in the corner of my country.”

He also asked other youths who live in poverty to return and join hands in the development and reconstruction of the country.

Mohammad is another youth working alongside Azeemullah who also earn livelihood by making clay bricks.

He said daily he earned up to 1,000 afs which is equivalent to the daily earning in Turkey and Iran but the plus point was that he was in his own country and nobody called him refugee.

He said most youth migrated to other nations due to poverty and unemployment. If job opportunities are generated for youth body would migrate to foreign countries.

Ebadullah, the resident of Takhar province, said that poverty was the major issue behind migration in the country, adding that most youth drowned in water, felt in the hands of bad people or suffered worst humiliation by border guards.

It is said that the youth are the backbone of the country, the government should focus on creating employment opportunities for the jobless people and prevent illegal immigration

This comes that officials of Takhar Labour and Social Affairs Department earlier assured Pajhwok Afghan News that the efforts to create employment opportunities for unemployed people, especially the youth were underway

It is worth mentioning that every year hundreds of Afghan youth lost their lives on their way to other nations and the main reason behind migration was poverty and economic problems at homeland.
