KABUL (Pajhwok): Flash floods triggered by torrential rains killed at least 22 people and also caused landslides in northern India, media reports said on Tuesday.
Reuters reported schools in New Delhi were closed after heavy rains lashed the national capital over the weekend and authorities in the Himalayan states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand asked the people not venture out of their homes unless necessary.
About 22 people killed in floods and landslides in the northern states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu, Kashmir and Punjab on Sunday, the Times of India reported.
A senior India Meteorological Department official said that many parts of Himachal Pradesh received a month rainfall in a day at the weekend.
