BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok) Some drivers in central Bamyan province have complained against the availability of below the standard fuel in the market and demanded relevant authority to inspect the quality of fuel in pump stations.
Najibullah, one of the drivers, told Pajhwok Afghan News, low quality fuel entered in the market in recent times and it caused problems for most of drives.
“Fuel available with pump stations or vendors were of low quality and it damages the fuel vacuum, engine and other spare parts of vehicle.”
Rahimullah, another driver of Bamyan-Kabul Road, said a number of drivers have converted their vehicles from fuel to gas.
He asked relevant authorities to stop the import of low quality fuel in the country, adding that low quality fuel entered the country through Hiratan Port from Iran.
He said the sale of low quality fuel by vendors who escape monitoring might have cause the problem.
But Shafiqullah Rahimi, director Petroleum Products in Bamyan province, said all petrol pumps registered with them were inspected once in a month by a joint committee of intelligence, municipality and by them.
He said their main office was in Kabul and machinery required for checking of fuel quality was not provided to administrative unites in provinces therefore they were unable to inspect the quality of fuel in the province.
