ATLANTA (Pajhwok): Construction work on the Rahman Baba Mina (E) road in the eighth police district of Kabul, a 162 million afs project, has been launched.
In a statement, the Kabul Municipality said Prime Minister Maulvi Abdul Kabir, Mayor Maulvi Abdul Rashid and other officials participated in the inauguration ceremony.
The acting premier hailed efforts by the municipality and hoped Kabul’s economic growth and development would see a boost with the construction of the road and implementation of new projects
He promised other huge projects would be implemented across the capital city. He was confident all residents would cooperate with the municipality on the execution of the schemes.
Eng. Amir Yasir, the municipality’s deputy director of construction affairs and urban transport, said the road -- 3,300 metres long and 40 metres wide, started from Karta-e-Naw and led to Stanikzai Blocks.
The road, in which quality materials would be used, would be completed in 18 months at a cost of 162million afghanis. It will have cycle lanes, footpaths and a green belt.
He called the road one of the most important projects for Kabul, meeting longstanding aspirations of citizens.
