700kg hashish seized, 1 suspect held in Paktia

GARDEZ (Pajhwok): Hashish weighting 700 kilograms have been seized from a car and one suspect arrested in the Zurmat district of southeastern Paktia province, an official said Sunday.

Police spokesman Munib Zadran told Pajhwok Afghan News the 700-kg drugs were confiscated from a pick-up vehicle in Dawlat Khan area of the district late on Saturday.

He said one person was arrested in connection with smuggling of hashish and currently under interrogation.

The cultivation and use of any kind of drugs is banned in the country.
