MAIMANA (Pajhwok): A woman has been shot to death by her brother in the Almar district of northern Faryab province, an official said on Monday.
Crime branch official Damla Moawez, confirmed the incident to Pajhwok Afghan News, identifying the victim as Suhila.
He said the 26-year-old woman was killed by her brother in the Qaraghwili village of the district on Saturday night.
He believed domestic problems were behind the murder, explaining the slain woman had been divorced a few months ago by her spouse living in Turkey.
Amanullah, an influential figure of the village, said: “Suhila was married 12 years ago. A few days after the wedding, her husband left the woman and went to Turkey. As the couple quarreled, she was divorced. She was accused of eloping with another man.”
He added the brother of Suhila returned from Iran three day ago and escaped after killing his sister.
