KABUL (Pajhwok): The European Union (EU) and Norway representatives during a meeting with acting public health minister have hailed administration of health related affairs in the past two years, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said on Tuesday.
Health Minister Dr. Qalandar Ebad said that improving the standard of health service particularly in the far-flung areas, increase the number of health facilities and controlling the spread of polio virus were the top priorities of the ministry.
He hailed Norway and EU assistances to the health sector and termed it significant for Afghanistan.
“Health sector is a non-political administration and our mission was to provide health services to the people,” he said.
The EU representative was quoted as saying: “We know that the health sector faced serious challenges in the past two years but you have better administered the situation. EU assistance to Afghanistan will continue and we are committed to continued cooperation.”
According to the ministry Norway special representative also pledged continued cooperation with Afghanistan.
