KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Examination Authority (NEXA) says girls would not participate in this year’s university entrance test according to a letter the authority received from the Ministry of Higher Education.
After returning to power in August 2021, the Islamic Emirate suspended girls’ high education and then extended the ban to university education last year.
But the officials have repeatedly said the ban on girls education is temporary and they would be allowed after a suitable and proper environment is created.
Earlier the Ministry of Higher Education asked all private universities and higher educational institutes to postpone registering girls for coming solar year’s entrance exam until further notice.
However, the National Examination Authority on March 5 said that high school graduates were being distributed forms to register for upcoming university entrance test in 31 provinces including Kabul.
But NEXA wrote on its twitter page today: “Only male students can sit this year’s Kankoor exam according to the MoHE letter. It is up to the Higher Education Ministry to take or not to take exam from anyone and NEXA has no responsibility in this regard.”
NEXA had on July 10 said the first round of Kankor exam would begin on July 20, 21.
