MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): Two persons were punished in public in eastern Laghman province after being convicted of moral crimes, officials said on Tuesday.
Mualvi Salamat Khan Bilal, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Abdul Basir and Ziaur Rahman were lashed in front of a number of people today.
Bilal said both the convicts received 30 lashes each and sent to jail for one year.
He said the government of Islamic Emirate was committed to punishing those violating the orders of Allah and spreading immorality in society.
Previously, a number of people had been punished for different crimes in Laghman province in the same manner.
