KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan Red Crescent Society has set aside 30 million afghanis and the International Committee of the Red Cross has earmarked $1.9 million for the treatment of children with congenital heart defects.
This was stated by Afghan Red Crescent Society vice president Mullah Nooruddin Torabi during a meeting with officials of hospitals treating children with heart diseases in Kabul yesterday.
The ARCS quoted Torabi as saying on its twitter page that the society had registered 25,807 children with heart defects so far.
The Afghan Red Crescent Society said it introduced 30 of the children to two hospitals in Kabul for treatment and operations yesterday.
In the last 12 months, 1502 children with a hole in their hearts were referred to different hospitals for treatment.
The Afghan Red Crescent Society would introduce such children to the ‘Peace Village’ organization and the organization would send them to Germany for treatment.
