ATLANTA (Pajhwok): Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai says the government is committed to completely eradicating the menace of drugs and has proven it in practice, but the international community has failed to discharge its responsibility in this regard.
In a statement, MoFA said Norway’s ambassador to Afghanistan, Paul Klouman Bekken met with Stanikzai on Wednesday.
Bekken praised what he called effective steps taken by the Islamic Emirate to improve security and fight narcotics and added that Afghan farmers should be provided with alternative sources of income.
Stanikzai said the caretaker government was committed to complete elimination of drugs and had proven it in practice, but the international community was yet play its part in this regard.
The two sides discussed several other issues of mutual interest and emphasized that issues could be resolved only through face-to-face talks.
