KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs Maulvi Abdul Kabir says the Islamic Emirate’s policy is not to oppress the people, but to serve the nation and resolve its problems.
Kabir said this at a meeting on Wednesday with tribal elders from Khost and Baghlan provinces. Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Muttaqi was also present.
A tweet from the Presidential Palace quoted the deputy premier as saying: “The policy of the Islamic Emirate is not to oppress the citizens. It has come to serve them and solve the problems of the nation.”
He said the Islamic Emirate sought good relations with all its neighbours and the world at large. However, he explained, the interim government would not compromise Islamic and national values.
He promised issuing necessary instructions to relevant state institutions regarding the demands and problems of the people.
The tribal leaders said the duty of the people was to support and protect the Islamic system. The expressed their readiness to cooperate with the government. They also stressed the need for compassion and service to the people by the caretaker government.
They urged IEA to ensure urban development, construction of roads, dams and facilities at educational centres in accordance with the master plan for Khost and Baghlan.
