MEHTHALAM (Pajhwok): Security forces seized 27 kilograms of drugs and two weapons and arrested five persons in connection with the seizure in the Qarghio district of eastern Laghman province, an official said on Saturday.
The official said the drugs seized included 19kg of heroin and eight kg of crystal meth.
Police spokesman Younis Yousufzai told Pajhwok Afghan News the drugs had been brought from Helmand province and were being transported to Nangarhar province, but security forces seized them.
He added: “Security forces arrested three persons with 19kg of drugs, one M4 rifle and a pistol in Mashli Kamar area on Friday night. They were transferring the drugs in a corolla car to Nangarhar from Helmand province.”
He said security forces also recovered eight kilograms of crystal meth in the mentioned area on Friday afternoon.
“Security forces arrested two individuals carrying 8kg of crystal meth from Kandahar in a corolla and wanted to transfer it to Jalalabad city,” he added.
He said the detainees would be referred to judicial organs after preliminary investigation.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has banned cultivation, production and smuggling of all kind drugs in the country and violators are being dealt with legally.
