ASADABAD (Pajhwok): The Asadabad-Nari district road has been closed for traffic due to flood in Kunar River, an official said on Sunday.
District Administrative Chief Shafiullah told Pajhwok Afghan News, the Kunar River water level rose since yesterday which forced the Nari-Asadabad road to be closed for traffics and the people face many problems since then.
He said: “The water level of Kunar River rose until it flooded the road in Kantli and Khrolo areas of Nari district which resulted to the complete closure of this road”.
The closure of this road concluded to the isolation of Bargimatal and Kamdish districts of eastern Nuristan province as well, the residents of those areas face many problems, he said.
The residents of the isolated areas want the government to reopen these routes.
Walayat Khan, a resident of Nari district told Pajhwok: “The road from Nari to the provincial capital has been closed since yesterday and we can’t travel”.
He asked the government to take steps for reopening this road.
Atifullah, another resident of Nari district said, due to the closure of this road, some of the residents are forced to take their patients through other sub-ways and trails to provincial hospital for treatment.
He asked the government to build more retaining walls alongside this road and secure it from the rising water level of Kunar River.
It is worth mentioning that some parts of this country have witnessed severe flash floods incidents due to heavy rainfalls, which have caused heavy personal and financial losses to the people.
