3000kg of ephedra plant recovered, destroyed in Uruzgan

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Security forces detected, seized and destroyed 3000 kilograms of ephedra plant used in processing narcotics in Khas Uruzgan district of central Uruzgan province, an official said on Tuesday.

Police spokesman Bilal Uruzgani told Pajhwok Afghan News that security forces recovered 3000kg of ephedra from a house in Tushkani area of the district on Monday and arrested one person.

He added the ephedra plant was burnt in light of the district court’s decision.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has banned cultivation, production and smuggling of all kinds of drugs in the country and violators are being dealt with in accordance with the law.
