3 minor girls drown to death in Nangarhar pond

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Three minor girls, fourth class students of a middle school, drowned to death after falling in a water pond in the Khogyani district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Thursday.

Farhad Ahmad Stanikzai, spokesman for the education department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that four students of Arghach middle school fell into a pond when they were playing there on Wednesday.

He said three of the students died and the fourth one was rescued.

Basharmal, a resident of Arghach area, told Pajhwok that the incident took place on Wednesday and all the children were from poor families. He asked the government to assist the bereaved families.
