KABUL (Pajhwok): The World Health Organization (WHO) says it has deployed 70 health workers and social mobilizers, including 30 women, in southern Kandahar and Helmand provinces amid increasing Congo fever cases in the country.
WHO tweeted: “As Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) continues to affect communities in #Afghanistan, about 70 health workers & social mobilizers, including 30 #women, were deployed in Kandahar & Helmand in #Afghanistan to raise public awareness about preventive measures.”
On July 20, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said at least 668 people contracted Congo fever in the country since March, with 67 of the patients dying.
