KABUL (Pajhwok): Iran has trounced Afghanistan in their third game in the Central Asian Futsal Association (CAFA) Championship by 5-1.
The Afghanistan Futsal Federation (AFF) wrote on its Facebook page the home side played their third game against Iran in CAFA 2023 in Dushanbe on Wednesday.
In the first half of the encounter, an utterly one-sided affair, Iran scored three goals while Afghanistan had to be content with only one.
In the second half, Iran scored two more goals. However, Afghanistan, which won the first two games, could not score more goals and lost the match.
In their previous outings, Afghanistan had outplayed Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan by narrow margins.
In addition to Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan are participating in the tournament.
Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have won two games each (six points). On the points table, Iran are on the top, Uzbekistan second, Tajikistan third and Afghanistan fourth. Turkmenistan are in fifth spot and Kyrgyzstan in sixth.
