Nearly 295,000 acres of grabbed land recovered in 9 months: LRC

KABUL (Pajhwok): Since its inception 10 months ago, the Land Recovery Commission (LRC) has so far identified nearly four million acres of state land and recovered nearly 295,000 acres of usurped land, the commission said on Thursday.

LRC officials made the revelation on the fourth day of the government’s accountability program to the nation at the Government’s Media Information Centre (GMIC).

LRC secretary Maulvi Ishanullah Wasiq said the commission was established 10 months ago and made significant achievements in its nine months of practical work.

He said the commission was led by Maulavi Abdul Hakim Sharaee and included representatives of the ministries of public works, urban development, agriculture and irrigation as its members.

Nearly four million acre land has been evaluated by the commission and found 3.75 million acres usurped.

He clarified residents had moved the courts against the commission’s decision about over 2,000 acres of land.

He further added that some 2,875 acres of land ownership documents were complicated and referred to special courts.

The Kabul Jadid (New Kabul) residential scheme was designed and planned by the previous government, but failed to inaugurate it and the project would be soon inaugurated, Wasiq said.
