CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): Reconstruction work of a mosque has been resumed after remaining suspended for two years in the provincial capital of central Parwan province.

The mosque’s reconstruction was launched two years ago in the previous government and 35 million afghanis had been set aside for the project, but only 17 percent work could be completed.

However, the reconstruction work has been resumed.

Parwan governor MaulviObaidullahAminzada said the mosque needed reconstruction.

“The previous contractor will rebuild the mosque at the same cost so shopkeepers and peddlers offer congregational prayers,” he said.

Haji Alijan, the contractor, said the two-storey mosque’s building would be constructed within a year with budget of the Ministry of Urban Development.

He added the mosque would have the capacity to accommodate two thousands worshipers at a time.

Local residents said they were happy over the reconstruction of the mosque.

Haji Lotfur Rahman, a jeweler near the mosque, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the mosque’s reconstruction was important for the city as worshippers had to face problems due to the unfinished construction works.
