27 urban plans for capital and provinces drafted: Nomani

KABUL (Pajhwok): The construction of Qatari township in Kabul city, the preparation of 27 urban plans for the center and provinces, the construction of ten orphanages, an estimated 952 repair, infrastructure and real estate projects are activities carried out by the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing last year, an official said on Sunday.

Addressing reporters here at the Government Media and Information Centre (GMIC) Acting Urban Development Minister Shaikh Hamdullah Nomani said construction projects in 34 provinces of the country, the planning and design of the engineering plans of 81 buildings in the center and provinces are some of the schemes which will be implemented this year.

Nomani said 952 repair, infrastructure, restoration projects and government and private sector real assets had been estimated and its rates had been determined

In nine provinces 18 planning and design of infrastructure networks such as sewage treatment plant, solving people's problems in the implementation of master plan roads, water supply, sewage, electricity networks, surface tracks arrangement and prevention of fire in buildings, arrangement of checklists for monitoring cleaning of houses sewage and similar other plans were part of the ministry one year performance, he minister said.

The minister said that 27 urban plans for the center and provinces including master plan, national comprehensive plans, detailed plans, regional and reform plans have been prepared in this ministry last year.

The source revealed that practical work on Qatari Township had been started in Kabul’s Khoshal Khan area and 35 percent work had carried out and the project would be completed in 18 months.

Nomani said this year 75 acres of land in Khawaja Bahauddin district of Takhar province was allocated for the immigrants and seven acres of land was distributed to each family, and ten acres of land were allocated for the purpose of building an orphanage in Ferozai town of Kabul region and the foundation stone had been laid down.

The documents and letters of 415 properties have been received and their problems have been solved, and the clearance of government lands in the new city on the bases had begun.
