KABUL (Pajhwok): Ukrainian drones once again targeted Russian capital Moscow and its surroundings early Tuesday, reports said.
In a report, Voice of America quoted Moscow mayor Sergey Sobyanin as saying that drone attacks were carried out in different places of the city early today (Tuesday).
However, the mayor did not say who sent and from which direction the drones had come.
He said: "The country's air defense system shot down many drones that were trying to fly towards Moscow."
The mayor also said an unmanned aircraft hit the building that was attacked by a drone on Sunday.
He said there was immediately no information about casualties, but emergency services had reached the area.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said that it shot down two Ukrainian drones outside Moscow early Tuesday and jammed another, sending it crashing into a skyscraper in the Moscow City business district and damaging the building’s facade.
It wasn’t clear why the same building was hit twice in a row. In both incidents, the Russian military said the drones that hit the skyscraper were jammed before crashing.
Russian officials have claimed that the repeated attacks on the capital region reflect failures in Ukraine’s counteroffensive to recapture Russian-occupied territory.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said over the weekend that “the war is gradually coming back to Russian territory,” but stopped short of taking responsibility for the attacks.
