KABUL (Pajhwok): Minister of Commerce and Industry Nooruddin Azizi has held talks with Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin on boosting bilateral trade.
At a meeting in Astana on Wednesday, the two sides agreed to increase commodity turnover from a billion US dollars to $3 billion.
According to Kazinform, 90 percent of Kazakhstani exports to Afghanistan were processed goods, traditional foodstuff, mineral fertilizers, rye and flax.
Kazakh firms, after a last visit to Kabul in April, delivered the first batch of energy drinks, baked items and fertilisers to Afghanistan.
To step up bilateral cooperation, Kazakhstan urged Afghanistan to use its Trade House in Herat and open its representation in the Central Asian country.
The development of current trade routes and creating alternative supply lines through Afghanistan also came up for discussion.
