KABUL (Pajhwok): Police have arrested nine suspects, including five women, in connection with carjackings in capital Kabul.
Police headquarters published a video clip in its twitter page about the detainees.
In the video clip, Maulvi Ahmad Mudassir, crime branch chief of 7th police district, said: “In 7th police district, a gang of robbers and extortionists had rented a house and lived in this area.”
“This gang would call a taxi and ask its driver to come to the house, and then a person who impersonating as an employee of the Islamic Emirate would take all documents from the driver and beat him and snatch his vehicle before escaping,” he explained.
He said the police arrested four men and five women and referred their cases to the criminal investigation department.
According to him, the stolen car was returned to its owner.
In the same video, a person named Ahmad Shirzad, said: “The car was handed over to me by Fareshta and Karima and they told me to take the car to one of the garages and I did that.”
The white-bearded taxi driver said one of the same women hired his taxi to visit properly dealers’ offices to rent a house.
He said the woman visited several property dealers’ offices until afternoon and then invited him for lunch so that they could visit other property dealers after the lunch.
“When I entered her house, I was attacked by some men inside the house and they beat me and said to each other to take the car to police office and we will solve the problem,” he explained.
He said after regaining senses he informed security forces about the issue and the robbers were arrested and he was returned his car.
